Photo of the Week: Red Bull Flugtag
This past weekend I went to check out the Red Bull Flugtag in Budapest. I’ve heard of this event, but have never seen it before. I don’t think there is one in Vancouver. I knew the basic premise of the competition and thought it would be hilarious to check out.
The Flugtag took place at Kopaszi gát, which is man made peninsular on the Buda side of the Danube. I had never been there before and it was quite nice to wander around. Its rather small and there are restaurants on it. Its very green, like a park, but in many ways its not. Very strange, but I quite liked it.
For the most part, as people pushed their machines over the edge they just fell. None of the ones I saw flew very far. In a lot of cases, the person sitting inside ended up going further than the machine did. But regardless, it was an entertaining process to watch.
