First Taste of Hungarian Food
Anyone that knows me, will know that I like to eat. I’ll eat pretty much anything except maybe onions and peppers if I have a choice.
What to know what my first meal in Hungary was? A donair!
It was really really good! It probably helped that I was pretty hungry at the time, but everything was really tasty. I got the chicken version with lettuce, cabbage and tomato. There was some sort of white sauce and a spice sauce. I was scared that it would be too spicy, but it was just right. So delicious. I can’t wai till I get another one (but on another note, it was Monday and I completely forgot and ate meat).
That night, I went to the grocery store with my roommate and she made me buy this. She didn’t tell me what was inside, but just told me to eat it. If you are going to try this out, make sure you get a glass bottle of a refreshing drink like orangina.
It tastes like chocolate primarily and the filling is interesting. Can you guess what it is?

This chocolate bar is called Túró Rudi and has chocolate on the outside and inside is curd. My roommate told me is cream cheese though. Either way, if you think about it, it sounds pretty disgusting. But, it really doesn’t taste like what it is at all. It just tastes like chocolate and a bit orange-y to me. Apparently foreigners either absolutely love it or absolutely hate it.
For me? Its okay. I’m not big on sweets in any case so while I won’t say that I like it, I would eat it again.
